I bought it in ‘97 I think. It’s the only call I carry besides a few mouth calls. That’s a woodhaven striker I bought in 2005 or 06. Striker cost as much as the call lol.
I use that pot for locating or long distance calling until the the Tom gets close. Best pot I’ve ever heard by far. If I’m just calling for someone else, I will use it all the way in to the setup. As long as the turkey like I will carry it.
All i ever use is mouth calls. Had a ol yeller one time was pretty good. Just don't like carrying stuff around. Usually couple mouth calls bottle of water and 4 shells.
I have that call, have used it a lot. Mine came with 2 strikers, a rosewood with molded plastic top and an all weather graphite or fiberglass, still carry mine.
I don’t have either of the strikers that came with it, I’m assuming I lost them somewhere along the not so beaten path. But the flare tip woodhaven is the perfect striker for that call that I’ve used. After that many years carry it around a guy should know the sweet spots on it lol. If I’m without a tag/gun and calling for someone, that’s mostly all I use, unless the turkey decides he wants something else.
Thats neat, bought mine new sometime in mid 90’s but don’t recall where. I ditched the all weather striker but really like the rosewood. Makes some sweet tree yelps. I have bought several more expensive calls since this one and still pack it most of the time. Very tough call also, don’t know how many times I have sat on it when just threw it in a pocket on the move. Have broken others this way. Can’t remember exactly how much I paid but something makes me think 12-14$.
I got tired of losing strikers so I attached it to the call. I credit that and the turkey vest I have now to keep up my gear. I don’t carry many calls these days. IMHO u don’t need them all but that’s just my opinion. I could make do with a Fanny pack but I like carrying mine in the vest unless it’s a long track back out. Then I just breast him out, pop beard off for proof, take a pic, then move on. Been a many hunts I’ve packed a turkey several miles on my shoulder getting back to my ride. Not any more lol
