Can you rent them? How much are they?
What about Montague island? Know anything about it? There's a couple of cabins there.
Did you do any gold panning while you lived there?
yes, there are companies that rent them. $30-$100/week plus deposit plus time. some pkgs include a number of hours, some don't. don't know who we used several years ago when on a Mexico hunt, but the prices have come down some. google sat phone rental, compare companies.
Nah, never got around to it.
Cost me $75 dollars for five days for the phone, and like $1.50 per minute for calls, if I remember correctly.
Hey mike sent you a pm. I went two years ago and shot a 60 in moose on a diy hunt. My dad shot a 56 in moose. I have lots of research and can point you in the right direction.
I would recommend a garmin inreach. Many pilots carry a inreach in the air so you can contact them whereas a day phone they have to pick up. With the inreach you can text and check it while hunting.
but can you rent them for a couple of weeks? if not, you purchase the unit then pay for the subscription and they can get pricey.
You can buy a inreach for about $250. A plan costs about $50 per month and you can cancel anytime. When I did the math I think it cost me $25 more than renting a sat phone. But now I own the inreach and can activate it anytime.
hey thanks, but I don't see the message, try sending it again.
wow, that's a whole lot of moose meat to deal with. how did you do it?
This is very good of you!!! If the moose you took is the one in your profile pic?? You did a very good job. Thanks for offering to help a fellow hunter. A moose hunt is top of my hunt wish list!!! But it will be a while before I can put this plan into action.
This is a good thing to know, maybe I should look around for a used one before I go and activate it a days ahead of time. What can you guys tell me about airlines? Any recommendations? I was planning to fly out of Nashville.
You can fly to Anchorage and Fairbanks on all major airlines. Most have spotty service to Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan....If you want to fly to some of the smaller towns like Homer, Barrow, Nome there are a flights out of Seattle or Anchorage.
Delta has a nice connection from Louisville to Minneapolis/St. Paul to Anchorage....that is the routing I usually take.
