Whatever it’s time span, we know mankind did not cause the Little Ice Age from the Middle Ages. So, as with other previous climate trends or events, discussing it seems irrelevant. What we are experiencing today has not been experienced before because our Industrial Age has caused it.T
The Mini Ice Age aka the Little Ice Age lasted for roughly 600 years, and is well documented, nothing close to a single weather event. It most definitely was a trend in cooling in the Northern Hemisphere, therefore your definition of climate change, but well before man’s onslaught of fossil fuel use. 1816 is also documented, happening during TLIA, supposedly by a volcanic eruption that produced frost in Virginia in July, and famine across Europe…. No potatoes in Ireland. Yes a single “EVENT” but changed weather patterns for a few years, but with much more concentrated green house gasses than we could ever do now, the climate settled out, healed itself, per se, but we are to believe that our use of fossil fuels will eventually change the climate more than other known historic events, or natural climate change from factors that we cannot control. The backbone of life is, as we all know is carbon, but in the useful oxidized form of co2 ( as pure carbon does nothing) along with water and o2. Co2 is converted to hydrocarbons by LIFE. We know that things are vastly more complex, but ask a brainwashed kid about these things: Water…ooom..good….02…ooom..trees… good… co2… bad… evil…..climate change…., yet all we are doing is recycling trapped and stored hydrocarbons for life to utilize again, but somehow with all of Earth’s history, natural climate change, and climate/ weather changing events, we need to go total EV in order to save humanity from evil co2.
We do know for certain that the burning of fossil fuels, releasing large amounts of your evil CO2 into Earth’s atmosphere, along with Methane and other greenhouse gases, is causing WORLDWIDE climate change. Unlike volcanic ash, which breaks down and settles out of the Earth’s atmosphere in a relatively short period of time (based on size of eruption, location, etc), CO2 must be reabsorbed by trees, ocean, etc and can still remain in the atmosphere for eons. Even if we stopped using fossil fuels immediately, scientists say the effects of CO2 already emitted would remain for many many years.
I’m not sure what’s your point? Are you saying mankind has not caused the climate change we are living through now because we know climate has changed before? If virtually every climate scientist worldwide agrees as to the cause, and their beliefs are supported by sound data and facts, how can you even consider arguing otherwise? It takes a lot of courage to go out that limb, in my opinion.
