That sucks but your attitude is awesome. I was a little attached to the place where we first started deer hunting, mostly for the memories. We lost access to that place in 2010. We’ve been able to hunt the place we hunt now since 2007. I’m thankful to have somewhere to hunt. Hope it lasts a long time. Oh, and Grinder, I’m the same way. When I drive out to my parents place, I’m always like, “Man if I could just walk that place one more time.” My dream place was the field by the place where I grew up. A greedy out of stater bought it and doesn’t really care about land or hunting. Just wants to own stuff. I’ll bet I can show him cool things about the place he’ll never discover.

Awful stories.
Call me a lucky SOB, but my dad's best friend couldn't have kids, and left me 88 acres of woods.
Dear ol dad has 48 acres to leave me, and is always trying to add to it.
FIL has 340 to leave my wife and me.
I currently hunt all of it, and good lord willing, always will with my kids. Blessed, I know.
The only place I've hunted for long is my dad's (28 years). To lose that would be devastating, so I understand.

Go back and read some of my olds posts. I’ve had people on here get mad but I think the biggest threat to the future of hunting is not allowing people to hunt. It may be different in the areas where you all live but around CKy the people I see buying up land are not land lovers, hunters, farmers, etc…it’s people either wanting to make money from the land or they buy simply because they can. Forget TV shows, Horn envy, not having a place to hunt is the biggest concern for the future of hunting.

Where I live, you have one guy who owns and farms around 8,000 acres and leases it all to out of state hunters. Or leases all the good land to out of state guys or who ever will pay for it. I can’t say I wouldn’t do the same though if I didn’t have any interest in hunting. I don’t really know anyone on the other side of the county. So most people I know that own land, either have family hunting it, hunt it themselves or it’s leased out. Then the occasional person who won’t let people hunt or fish just because someone in the past has left a bunch of trash on their property.

On the flip side of that anyone who says they can’t find a place to hunt obviously is either not to serious about it or just plain lazy. This state has 100s of thousands of acres across the whole state of awesome public land for anyone to hunt. I own my own property but still hunt public quite a bit because their is some really good property out there. So to say the future of hunting is at jeopardy due to people not allowing others to hunt is just silly in my opinion. Anyone who really wants to hunt will find a place be it private or public.

Don’t disagree. I’ve just watched the changing of time and it hasn’t been for the better. I’m thankful some nice folks let me hunt. Not everyone is as lucky.

Been hunting my uncles old farm for 42 years. He passed several years back so his son owns it now. I’ve taken a lot of great deer there over the years. The last couple of years my cousin wants to hunt the spot I do in gun season. I stepped aside so he could gun hunt it. He brings a buddy and he’s actually hunting my stand more than he did. He also killed the good one I passed last year.

So yesterday he called and said they put up a blind about 60 yards in front of my stand but it shouldn’t hurt my bow hunting. I think his buddy wants to hunt here more than he does but it’s my cousins land and I feel the best thing to do is give it up and let them have it.

I’ve mowed it and put in a lot of work there over the years. He’s not a big hunter so we will see how it goes for him. It’s just sad to not be hunting a place that has so many memories. It’s not a big spot but it’s in a good place. Time moves on….
I told you all you have to do is come to the farm right next to you and you will have a place to hunt as long as i have it and still will be hunting the same deer hell you can even still hunt your stand thats on my property lmao...:):):):)

Their blind was too close to that stand so I took it down. I may take you up in your offer when y’all are done.

Since my all farm owning uncles have passed away, I haven’t been able to hunt much. Hunted at a couple of WMAs, but that sucks. Always someone stomping in or around the area that sounds like a herd of elephants.

Yeah I’ve hunted public land and it can suck. I hunted Higginson Henry a good bit and it was covered up with out of state hunters. Now it’s quota hunt for bow and gun. It’s only open to the public early and late season. So all the good hunting is blocked off now. That means other public land close by has more hunters pushed towards them.

Well put, i forget exactly, but i think ky has like a million acres of public hunting land. It may not be easy hunting, but rewarding. Its everybody’s, so, utilize it! Im at Land Between the Lakes right now, for a week, 2 days of it with grandson
