I've been looking for a 30-30 rifle. I've always been told the older models are the best ones but can't seem to find any. Anybody know where to find any of the older models? The newer ones look cheap IMO. I like the wood stick with nice clear finish. Thanks for the help

Best bet is to try Gunbroker.com or some auction style site if you are looking for something older. Prob is not being able to put your hands on it before you purchase it. FWIW I bought a Marlin 336C in 2003 and it functioned flawlessly and shot well for a 30-30win. I sold it to upgrade to a flatter hunting round for longer shots in KY. But I hunted with it in FL for a decade.

Man, lever guns chambered in 30-30 are a dime a dozen. I'd start with local gun stores and check the used rack. You might even try pawn shops.

I've got a Marlin 30 AW that I really like.

Pawn shops etc.. I had 336W that wouldn't hit a barn from the inside so I sold it. I'd like to have another leaver gun but don't think it will be a 30-30. Mayberry 44 mag?

The old Marlins and Winchesters were great.... I have not shot a newer model. Wish I had my dad's old Marlin that he sold....

I see them quite regularly for sale on Face Book gun trading pages. Just wait a little while, they will pop up every now and then usually for 3 to 4 hundred bucks depending on the gun.

I've been deer hunting with a 80s model 336 for the past few years when I use a gun. Great gun for the deep thickets and I only paid 80 bucks for it lol

That is a steal I had $300 in mine and thought I did great. I got $500 out of it when I sold it.

There is one right now on the "Paintsville Ky Gun Trader" page on Face Book.
