I was told a long time ago that you can never go wrong with a .30-06. I have had my Remington 700 in .30-06 since 1988. It still shoots like a dream. Although I now use 150 gr. Barnes TTSX instead of the 180 gr. Core-Lokts I used back then. But I bet those Core-Lokts would kill ‘em just as dead today.
I like a larger bullet. They normally have a higher ballistic coefficient and less wind drift on those blustery nov days. Bullet drop is easy to figure out. Wind drift not so much. But then again most people don’t shoot at deer 450 yards away.
Yep my wife hunts with a 30ought6. 180 grain core lokts. Kills’em dead. I hunt with 270 150 grain lokts and same results. Love rem lokts.
30.06 will damn near cut a coyote in half if you are late to aim and hit it a little further back than intended. I’ve seen it happen
Core-Lokts are not all the fancy rage anymore, but they sure are good deer medicine at a decent price.
All you need for a whitetail, they've taken many a critter over the years. If I was deer hunting with an '06, I'd shoot the 150 gr CL (as long as the rifle liked it).
My cheap Savage Axis in 6.5 loves the 140 grain Core Lokt. Likes other bullets as well. Core Lokt are great deer bullets as others have said.
I have laid down many deer and yotes with my Remington 742 Woodsmaster. Haven't lost one yet. I only shoot core lokt ammo through it.
