My turn ,Gentlemen. Above is the Original question. Both the .22-250 & the .243 are capable ,and likely to be more accurate than any of us need for shootin' song dogs or whistlepigs. But those four words , ''all around better caliber'' would rest on the .243 . It'll do anything the other will do with the same weight bullet. And at 400 yards , give or take an inch, either are still outrunnin' sound and the coyote don't hear it coming , nor the report of the shot being fired . And if you hit him , with either one , he can't tell the difference. I've enjoyed reading all this , this evening . I shot and handloaded for the .243 for over 25 years , no complaints . Now I shoot .223 ,,,,,,,,,,,,no complaints . No regrets .
