2023 Morel season

Well, is it almost here? Soil temps really rose the past few days and it looks like most everyone got a decent rain last night. I’m not able to get out for the next several days so post your finds if you get out and look.

I’ve searched for them every year just about and can never find any. I look in all the places they should be at too. Either Im just not good at it or there ain’t any around where I’ve looked.

Low of 33°F here tonight and 39°F tomorrow night... I never search for them and simply look around for all things interesting. More fun that way...

Man I miss finding them. I grew up finding them in Eastern Ky but since I’ve lived in Pulaski county I just can’t seem to find em. I’ve got a couple buddies that’ll let me tag along on their spots but never have been able to find one of my own down here lol.

Well the 2 inch depth soil temp topped 65 degrees today. I don’t think I have ever seen it that warm this early.

My first find was March 24th last year but with these temps I'm thinking they gonna hit early then cold weather gonna come back I'm thinking it may be a bad year for them

The early warmth then sudden cold spells have been hard on the gray ones the last two years here. The yellow ones are always right on time though.

I should be able to find them this spring easy enough because my brother is growing 80’ row of them.

Most years I just find a scattered few in the woods.
