Would love to know how many license sales there was over the last 10 years too.

I don't think this is the case in my area? Matter of fact, I saw way more turkeys around during the last week of season than I did people hunting them. Not that it hurts my feelings or anything. Lol

Yes there are more hunters. Last year noticed more because of covid at public parking lots. This year was worse than last year. Couple mornings I thought I was early but lot was full and had to go to 2nd or 3rd choice.

It is around here. People that don't hunt anything else have taken up turkey hunting... Don't need much gear, weather is nice....

The 2 counties that I turkey hunt are Hart and Jefferson. Hart had the 4th highest # of turkeys killed this past season and Jefferson is 6th from the bottom. I find it really strange that I heard and saw far more birds in Jefferson than in Hart.

I was gonna start this topic myself...

I mentioned earlier in a thread about the population issues that I doubted Ky would make drastic reg, bag, or season changes if the total was close to 30,000 birds. I realize some areas are down and some folks are not seeing many birds but the state regs cover the entire state and I wonder if the regs will changes to protect the lowest areas i f whole state is within @10 % up/down of prior ten years average?

It has always amazed me that neither Ky or Tn have a check the box if you turkey hunt on a license form. How can you know how many turkey hunters you have if you dont ask for that kind of information? Like others have said they have observed , to me there are clearly more turkeys hunters in Ky than there were 5 and 10 years ago.

One can hope that we have a good surviving pout hatch and the cicadas give the super protein load to make for good growth. Typically the recruitment in a cicada year is very very good.

I do think the public land birds are taking a beating all over the southeast. It might make sense to have different regulations for those areas (as opposed to private lands) but it would be a political nightmare to set those regulations I suspect.

Not sure about 10 years, but I know there were more KY hunters last year. But, there was also no out of staters. Lots of variables from year to year, including number of hunters, weather, predators, habitat loss, etc.
