I looked em up on the Google.
    Yellow Stalked Puffball.
Found about a dozen in one spot this morning, have never seen em before. Ugly sumbitches. I swear that ball on top inflated itself every time I mashed one a little.

Found about 500 today in a spot where they were all fresh and just coming up. Can someone ID this critter I picked up?

Looks kindA like lion's mane but I've never known of it being found in spring..soo I don't know. IF it is you hit the mushroom lottery in my opinion! Congrats
I was sent some VERY fresh morel pics today which brightened my day. All little yellows found low on the hill

It does resemble lions mane except they usually have more of the stringy mane growth on them. Were they growing on a tree or the ground?

I think they will get put back in the woods, no need to take that chance.

Looks like white corral to me. But does resemble lions mane a little. Both are good. Lions mane resembles lobster in taste to me the one time I had enough of it.

Picked 2 small still fresh yellows in Jefferson yesterday and found none today but I was preoccupied with chasing turkeys in Hart today.

Well I guess I could have killed that gobbler that gave me the runaround for 5 hours this morning!
