Fry that with some gobbler that's scratched every cow patty in the field and you'll have a little extra protein...maybe ;):D

That really puzzles me. I have heard several people say they find them under wild cherry trees. I have looked under 100’s and have yet to find a morel that I could say was associated with the wild cherry.

I went to a spot yesterday, found 4 little ones. I did bring back a nice mess of ramps and pheasant back, but the morels just were not there. It seems that the days have got longer, letting everything green up, but the temperature hasn't came up to where the shrooms need it to be. I am guessing, at least where I hunt, that when it gets warm it will be a short season of nearly all yellows. I hope I am wrong, but at mid April, this year seems to be behind.

I went out after work yesterday to a spot I found some tiny ones Monday. Nothing left but deer footprints. The weather has been just about perfect for them this week so hopefully I'll have better luck this weekend.

Hit the half free patch that we picked twice earlier this week and picked another 113. Also found 1 black, 2 big dark greys and 11 yellows/whites/tans.
    127 total.

It has been a season to remember for me and my wife. Feel very blessed!
Last week a friend’s son texted me asking where he could pick some for his grandma’s 90th birthday. Well I wasn’t going to show him spots but I did give them all I had in the fridge, probably 40-50 fresh blacks. I did pull the thing Whoopi Goldberg did in the movie Ghosts when she was handing over the 4 million $ check to the nun and wouldn’t let go of the check! Ever since I gave those to him the picking has been awesome! Thank you Lord!

20210415_173836_copy_1512x2016.jpg Well I haven't found near as many (YET )as years past but I think my spots down low are gonna be late with this up/down temps we been having in my area. I was blessed to scratch out enough for the folks& I to have mess this evening. Mom also found some gobbler in the freezer which is always a treat..:)
