Looking more and more like a delayed a season due to the cold February temps. I checked the soil temps a few weeks ago and again recently and wow what a change. There were some finds of blacks morels in Ky last year @ March 8th but that’s not going to happen this year. That graph shows the 2 in depth soil temps the past month.

Same here. Found 343 blacks last March. My previous best was 147 in 2017. It was my best March ever in over 30 years of picking morels. One positive about having this cold snap is the snow cover will provide good soil moisture that will seep into the ground.

Y’all must be finding them in southern Ky. Don’t see any here till mid April.

@Recurve77 finds majority of his in jefferson and Henry county, I believe (I think that's what he said). Very much northern Ky, and he very much found plenty in March of last year lol

I found close to equal #’s in Jefferson and Hart and they start popping in both counties at the same time even with Jefferson being 80 miles N of Hart. I have always attributed that to my Jefferson patches being affected my the heat from the city.

@hollandhunter I do believe is on the TN line and usually finds a sack full early.
