Thanks Johnny. I did not select “accept any date” as members of my party are only available on certain dates. I put in for 1/28 and 1/29. I called a few minutes ago and left a message with John Brunjes.

Four people in the blind hunting or not. So the boys can absolutely go but the count as one of your party (which is a max of 4 on public land in KY)

I don't mean to be a debbie downer but Ballard has very little crops planted this year. They did a huge project on the pumps/new pump and that was a bulk of their budget. Lots of private farms had great corn production, so those ducks will probably go out to feed during cold events. I'm sure Ballard still has some moist soil tho.

Personally I’d rather hunt a loafing area on a refuge vs the corn.

I'd much rather hold the food and the Fuge hold the rest areas. As long as they don't have food and rest on the same unhunted Fuge, I'm happy. I like hunting weather and fronts anyway.

I skipped a year or two... Did get Yellowbank pheasant. Nothing else but no big loss. I guess I'll have points for next year.

Hit the lotto this year! Got drawn for Crenshaw 3 11/27-11/28 and Ballard 1/26-1/27. I know what Crenshaw 3 looks like and normally I would save myself the trip. Hunting Crenshaw 5 a couple years ago and you drive right past 3 to get to the ramp for 5. Didn’t look too impressive. That said it’s the 3rd and 4th day of the season so is it worth it? Anybody know if they hunt sloughs on thanksgiving and Black Friday? I assume they do. No clue what I’m getting into with Ballard. That should be an adventure.

Which way the blind face? I’ve never hunted sloughs before.

5 preference points got me drawn at Ballard, Dec 8 and 9. Interested to see the blind assignment process compared to the last time I was there, I understand it's different.
