A wild weather day resulted in wild flushes. The wind and rain kept them laying low all day. Went to cover I flushed 25+ last year and flushed 8-10 today. Two solid points, one resulted in a double with a 200+ yard retrieve on a wounded bird. Hopefully the weather and birds will be more cooperative tomorrow. View attachment 81652

It'll be another 2.5 weeks before I'll be up north ... really looking forward to it.

Asking a favor of my KYHunting fellow grouse hunters going north ... I'm having some repair work done on a favorite mount and I'm looking for a gray phase bird with rust colored ruffs (fairly rare). If any of you kill one, send me a pic showing head and ruff ... I'm looking for a carcass ... feel free to breast out the meat. I just need the carcass ... really the back, head and ruffs. If you kill one and freeze it ... bring it back to KY and I'll make arrangement to pick up plus a gift for your trouble.

Good pics and nice to hear something positive happening. I leave in 2.5 weeks and hope I don't miss the woodcock coming through this year like I have the last few years. Good luck, and those is a pretty setter, but I'm kinda partial to setters.

That looks very close. Would you care to freeze the carcass and bring it back to KY?
