I hunt Indiana every year. That PCR junk in my opinion was an awful thing to do. Its good for some I'm sure and a lot of people use them. Problem is people try and treat them like a 270 or 30/06 and shoot at deer 200-300 yards away. I heard rumor that Indiana is considering allowing center fire rifles but don't know how true it is

I must agree with you on this shooting short ranged pistol cartridge at deer 200 yards away with PCRs. I shot a large Doe up in Indiana one season using a .44 Magnum range was 60 yards. I consider a cartridge like the .44 Mag. useful for deer < 100 yards using a 240 grain Hollow Point bullet, placed in the Heart/Lung area.

I also heard of a rumor about them using High Powered rifles in Indiana, but I don't really think it will pass. The people population up there is too high and suitable hunting areas are shrinking yearly. Few of the S.E. Counties (MIGHT) be okay for rifle use as they are not as highly populated as most areas are. They can now legally use cartridges that are 1.8" long case with a min. of .357" size bullet.

I agree with your statement on rifles. I hunt in Switzerland county which is the south eastern most county of the state. A person with common sense could use a rifle anywhere in the state but especially around where I hunt. Unfortunately common sense is a rare commodity it seems. I would much rather see it go to center fire rifles than the PCR's or just go back to shotgun and ML.

Clay WMA might as well be opened up year round. They recently went from Quota, bow and youth to opening up the early Muzzleloader. Still, there is more rifle hunting there on opening weekend than anywhere in the area. Not sure who is suppose to be looking after that but hunting near there I could see dozens of flashlights going in in the dark and heard 31 shots off of Clay on opening morning alone.

It is in the Indiana Game and Fish book this year under 2015 Proposals. Looks like it will pass since they are saying smokless muzzleloaders already produce rifle velocities and high powered rifles are already legal for all other game but deer, turkey, migratory birds.

Good to know. I haven't seen it yet. I know I could've killed a real nice buck this year if I'd have been holding a .270 instead of a 12 gauge.

We have some of the best deer hunting in the country. Our seasons are just right. Last thing we need is more government screwing it up. Not sure about the zone changes as I don't hunt those areas. However, where I hunt in West KY it's perfect. Sure glad the dude with the 30 county rotation doesn't have a vote!
