I was told common base is no longer a deduction because of the king buck?
I agree that was the issue keeping the King buck from topping the Hanson buck as the world record typical but to my knowledge that rule on a common base has not changed. I don’t see them changing that ever , if so they would score the king as world record. I’m not an official scorer but would like to hear that from one if that’s true.
Ill be honest, i like the character more on most lopsided bucks than i do a dead even highscoring buck.
I'm with you on the deductions, as long as those sort of webbed points aren't ruled non-typical. Similar points have torpedoed big typicals before, and the judgements seem arbitrary.
Don't think so.
I'm seeing 12+" of deducts.
Monster of a deer. Holy moly.
Definitely a common base though.
What I’m being told is jay fish who owns the king buck sued B&C and won and so B&C changed their rules in the book on common points but will not rescore the king buck under the new rules.
Interesting. Hadn’t heard about suing. Wish an official scorer would chime in on this change if so. I think Fish gave like 35k for it before it was scored figuring it would be the new record. Don’t see how someone could sue a club that you are wanting to join over a rule they have on their own scoring system. I just don’t see that as a winning case. I believe the rules are once scored you can’t shop around for a higher score with other scorers anyways.
I’m trying to find a source. All I’m going off is second info but he’s a very knowledgeable source so I’m not sure he’d be wrong either
I txt a hunting buddy of mine that’s official p/y and b/c scorer and ask if common base rule still is used. I think he’s in bed already no response.
I agree with 1Wildcat, 7 on right 6 on left gonna be deductions. Either way it's a heck of a deer and I'm pretty sure anyone on here would be proud to wrap their tag on. Congrats to the gentleman, it's tough watching em walk to let em get there. But if he shot it at 170 it'd never got to 200! Kudos to him!
Throw the score out, who cares! Congrats to the hunter!
Who cares about the deduction and scoring, that's not what hunting is about , now days who killed the biggest and has the biggest drop tine lol, they look pretty hanging on the wall but can't eat horn soup
