Shot a decent nine pointer tonight. Got to farm at 1:50. Walked about 600 yards, found a tree to climb. Climbed tree secured climber seat. Was screwing bow holder into tree and looked over into drainage/thicket and saw him about 60 yards away. Said the heck with holder and began pulling bow up. Panicked when rope hung on limb, but finally got it broke free bow pulled up. Quickly put release on and unhooked rope.

Buck began walking my direction. Quickly found rangefinder (which was in backpack sitting in stand seat, no time to secure pack to stand). Buck came out to 35 yards and turned right to head down edge of woods, skirting me. I snort wheezed since I couldn’t get to my grunt tubed. He locked up for a minute, turned around and came my way! Walked about 10 yards, made a hard right coming up the ridge behind my tree. I spun around tree, found a small window and popped him at around 25 yards! He ran 20 yards, stopped for a couple seconds, staggered and fell dead.

It was fast, exciting hunt! 9 point, 17” inside, tines weren’t real long. I’ve shot bigger, but I was proud to get him.

Saw a doe and a buck that looked like he had a little interest in her around 5, then had what I believe to be a doe mulling around in the woods behind me at last light. Going to switch up spots in the morning for the rifle opener.
