Mine is a 2004 XLT. In 2008, when I bought it, it had 65XXX miles on it. My buddy owns a mechanic shop so we put it on the lift and he told me it needed a yoke seal but other than that it was good to go. I paid $12,800. The guy wanted to get out from under it. Plus he had the exact same work truck minus the electric windows and locks.

Something not mentioned yet I don't think...that 5.4 gets horrible mileage. My dad has the same truck except his is 2wd and has the 4.6 instead. He gets around 20mpg. Mine gets about 11.5 without a mowing trailer and 11 with the trailer. If you are not going to pull a trailer all the time, probably better off with the 4.6L.

You dad must baby his. I admit I was a Ford guy, my WHOLE family is Ford people, I have family in Michigan that build them every day. I bought a new 2005 F150 4x4 with the 4.6 and 3:55 rear end (because I didn't know any better) Truck would get 20-22mpg out on the interstate with the cruise set on 75 but around town IT SUCKED. I got 11-12mpg out of it. It was geared too high for that motor, couldn't get out of its own way taking off and forget pulling or hauling anything remotely heavy. I put two atvs on a 16' trailer behind it and my transmission overheated. I took it back to the dealer and was told "that's a road truck not a work truck, shoulda got that bigger motor". Well that woulda been nice to know when I bought the damn thing, but yeah mine got horrible mileage doing anything but unloaded flat land interstate trips. I traded it off for a Chevy in 2008 and never looked back.

My buddy had the same motor in his. My 5.4 got better mileage than his, as well as, my dad's gas hog Dodge with the 4.7.

Appreciate the opinions and advice. I think I am going to pass on this one. It is priced pretty high for what it is.

Not to mention the damn power window regulators going out every time you turn around...that's all the Ford bashing I got. As a Ford owner, I had to get that out of my system to be able to live with my truck for a few more years (knock on wood):) I'm driving her till the wheels fall off....hopefully...
