Why are you countering an argument that literally no one has made? That seems foolish.

Sooooo.....the founding principles had nothing to do with religious beliefs? Beliefs based upon certain religious texts? Our laws do not reflect the accepted morality created by those beliefs? I don’t think you have a misunderstanding of religion...but rather morality.

Also with your vast knowledge of various religions, would you care to enlighten us as to why Islam is so vastly different from Christianity and Judaism? Why does one small deviation in linage produce such a massive difference in empirical practice?

    Thanks.

    Yellow Ambulance?

I'm guessing your "degree" in "religious studies" is an AA, as well. What are your other degrees, as you implied you have more than one?

What gave it away? The whole "people might die if I don't go to work" shtick?

    Newsflash for @Buzzy -

The world keeps turning, whether you are 10-8 or take paid leave, be it sick or v-time. The job you do? It'll replace you with another warm body as soon as possible, if you leave. Take it from someone with two decades in public safety - no one gives a shit and you're not that special. Sure, if you're fortunate, you'll have those runs where you actually made a difference. But, 99% of your call volume will be BS runs.

Only time I rode a bus was to escort inmates to the hospital. Did that quite often for the first the thirds of my career and logged in a lot of hours at U of L ER. Later, I changed positions and ended up responding to overdoses at St. Mary's, U of L, and other hospitals around town when our folks on HIP would OD (frequently). Got to know a lot of hose draggers and bus drivers over my time and made 10-30 runs to EMS with combative patients.

New faces like yours only last so long, until reality sets in. Good luck to you, but don't make the mistake of thinking you're all that important. Just another cog in the machine is all...another warm body to take runs and keep the OT in check, lol.

Oh buddy I understand everything you said loud and clear and think the same way. It’s not that I think I’m important it’s that I gave my word I’d be there and those people count on me to keep my word. Sure anybody can be replaced at anytime and they should be if need be. I can get a new job tomorrow if I want there’s plenty out there.

You work to earn time it’s yours take it , that’s why employers have schedules to cover while folks are off. I work corrections and we stay busy I don’t hesitate to take my V time And I work tons of OT if you work hard and have a good work ethic your job isn’t going anywhere now a days most folks don’t wanna work ( younger generation) or can’t pass a drug test has been my experience around here. That’s the truth. in my line of work it only comes a few times a year. And when we have work it’s 24/7 until the jobs done. The pay is incredible. So I get my time off but when there’s work there’s nothing else. But right now I’ve got work.

I’ve been in EMS for 8 and a half years and the life or death part is a lot less often than you may think when you first start out. I think everything is still new and shiny to him, I hope it doesn’t wear off but chances are it will. Let’s just agree to disagree on this one, Buzzy.

I was a Paramedic/Firefighter for over 20 years. Seen guys like this before. They don’t last long. Get passed from place to place due to personality conflicts. You have to have a certain mentality to do that job or you just won’t last. When I was in doing interviews I would try to weed out people like that. In a high stress moment you have to make snap decisions or people get killed. I wouldn’t want that mentality/personality working on my mom. Takes a mixture of Commonsense mixed with intelligence and a little street smarts mixed in. Most with that mentality don’t have it. Like stated above even in a 911 service 90% of the runs are BS but there is those 10% that need a clear head and a type A personality.
