    How much land is enough?

Does Kentucky have a "lawful duty to retieve" when game crosses property lines? Oregon does NOT allow trespassing at all. You need owner permission to retrieve an animal. In GA, we have a good relationship with neighbors on our lease. They will help you track a deer.

    How much land is enough?

Maybe I should have asked how where you hunt differs from where you live. I'm sure there are folks who live in an apartment and successfully hunt public land year after year. And, like alot of you have said, the right small acreage will do better than 100+ acres. I laughed out loud at some of...

    How much land is enough?

ODFW estimated 400K but acknowledged bucks are elusive and its hard to really know. Radio collars showed deer movement was regionalized-not all blacktail deer behave the same. My observations- Oregon has "farm deer" and wild deer. I have seen both, but 90% farm deer because we live in farm...

    How much land is enough?

I have looked at KYFW for stats on harvest rates across all of the counties. If I recall, the data also lists the public areas and their harvest rates. The success rate for hunters did not seem especially high on public land, but I think it is higher than Oregon. Kentucky has over 1M deer...

    Maybe we'll move to KY

My wife and I are both retired. Have been since 2019. My search on zillow/land and farm has been the bluegrass region with counties in zone 1 or 2 for hunting. I appreciate all of the comments.

    Maybe we'll move to KY

It's on my "to-do" list as Oregon goes more "woke". I grew up hunting whitetails in GA. Still hunt there with my brother on a lease. Now that my brother and sister are getting closer to retrement, we have talked about moving into the same area, with them moving north from GA. And it all...

    How much land is enough?

Really. How much? I am not looking for the answer of, "as much as you can afford.' How many of you bought a house with acreage in farm county (say 5-15 acres) with the intent to hunt on your own property? How many bought a house in the suburbs with the intent to hunt public land? And how has...
