Back in the blind with the grandson for the last afternoon. He had the misfortune of not placing a good shot on a decent 2 1/2 year old 8 pointer Saturday afternoon that we didn’t find. Looking for redemption today.

He just passed on this doe fawn @ 15 yards.

We’ve been in the blind for about an hour. I guess these 2 10 year olds aren’t overly excited today. Must have stayed up too late playing video games.

Taking the twin grandsons tomorrow afternoon. We have 1 crossbow to share so the grandson that hasn’t taken a deer this year gets 1st crack at whatever he wants to shoot and his brother wants to get a doe but will have to wait his turn. Hoping to get them in on multiple hunts this weekend.

In August I was pumped knowing that 3 very good bucks had survived the 2020-2021 season. 1 10 pointer that was pushing 160, another that was @ 150-155 and a 3rd that was probably 145. Good sit tonight. Saw 22 deer total but only one buck. More than half ended up in easy bow range. Just don’t need another doe for the freezer and the buck was a young one that needs 2 more years.

Twin fawns stepped up to the corn @ 3:20. No clue that I was there until the wind shifted from S to E then tails up and off they go.

Just climbed up and settled. Still looking for a big one but I don’t have high hopes. Couldn’t miss the opportunity to hunt this snow.

I also wonder if by bringing those logs, I may have also brought the spores from subsequent flushes. I live in a large wooded subdivision and since bringing those logs I’ve been finding regular flushes on the dead ash on my property but when I take long walks through the subdivision I see very...

Took a walk through the neighborhood late this afternoon. Saw @ 10 deer including 1 buck that already dropped one side. 1st one that I have seen this season to have shed.

Also saw this daffodil blooming in my neighbor’s yard! I have never seen one bloom anywhere near this early.

I was driving on a rural road in Jefferson county today and had to stop due to some tree trimming truck blocking the road. I look over to the house on my right and this was in their bay window!
