Mine shoots 100 grain much more accurately than 150 grain. I shoot FFF G because I have plenty. Bought some Blackhorn 209 but never shot it. Read that the hole in the CVA Wolf Magnum needed to be larger. Does anybody know if that is true.
Going to show my age, first one was a button buck with a recurve in 1965. After four years of trying I was a happy hunter. Back in those days seeing deer was a teeat.
Years ago using cap and ball, I shot a buck and he went right down. Having had a conversation with a friend who had a deer get up and run off, I reloaded. I got down and as I was walking toward the deer it jumped up. I shot it again! The first shot grazed the top of spine.
I bought the Mossberg SA 20 turkey gun Monday. I patterned it Tuesday and it shot well. Kytrapper 2005 you are correct, the weight is 6-1/4 rather than the 5.5 advertised. I will probably hunt with my older 870 SP on occasion as it is a tried and true companion. But the lighter gun felt good.
I’ll be turning 80 before the season begins, and can still get up and down the hills, but can’t hear crap😩. I have a 870 SP which I got in the early 90’s and is a great gun, but with a weaver turkey scope and sling it weighs 9-5/8#. I see where Mossberg has a SA 20 ga auto that weighs 5.5#. Do...
Work on bee equipment and bees. Got out my fly tying equipment and have been tying a few. Even though I don’t fish with them anymore. Look forward to turkey season, will be 80 when season opens god willing. Have always been a run and gun hunter and still can. But since I can’t hear much that...
I was born in 1942.
First day of squirrel season was like rhe first day of deer now. They were much more skid dish back then.
Lots of quail and rabbit hunters. Almost every other yard had a hunting dog.
Coon hunting was popular. Also several fox hunters.
Frog hunted and fished in river and...
Use to see winter flocks with over one hundred birds on my farm about fifteen years ago. Then they started declining and numbers are nothing like they were.
Used metal tags for many years after I started deer hunting. Looked similar to old rail boxcar seals. Put one on a buck at KY Woodlands (LBL) and when I got home it fell off because it failed to lock. They would have probably thrown me under the jail if they has detected that problem.
Bought a used 20 ga LeFever side by side in 1954 for $40.00. I was twelve. Also have a brick box 500 rds Winchester 22 Longe Rifle Super xx with a price tag of $1.97. I was in mid twenties when I purchased that box.
