    Alpha Max

Hey Tim and Huntingman, this is Jack Robertson from Harrodsburg. Glad to see another person from Harrodsburg on this forum. Tim, when are the archery clubs coming out with their 2009 schedules? After being laid up for several years, I'm ready to try shooting again. I heard that Robert (at...

    Kiss or Don't Kiss

Thanks for all the info. Tape and powder are new to me, but it makes sense. Not using a kisser, I have found that my right hand (thumb area) is closer to my jaw bone, making it a little more difficult in using my release. I think I will just stay this way with no kisser. Besides, every...

    Kiss or Don't Kiss

Got your attention with that title didn't I? I've been shooting with a Kisser Button (just a small nock on the string) for the last 25 ears, but I recently bought a new bow and forgot to put one on. I've been busy tuning and sighting in my sights, that I didn't have time to take it to the...

Not a good start to 2008

Sorry to hear about that Keith! Maybe the buck in the pic is still around somewhere. I would print up a bunch of pictures and put them in all the sporting/hunting stores, Wal-Mart Sporting Goods Dept, etc. in your area, and maybe somebody has seen or heard about the rack somewhere. If I can...

How far do you guy,s shoot

I filmed a 6th grader (with his dad also in the stand) shooting a doe at 180 yards while she was walking in open field. She went about 20 yards and dropped. As for me, I shoot an old Thompson Center Hawken muzzleloader, with 240 gr. sabots and 90 gr. of powder. I have a 3 X 9 scope on it...

    Time/Clock is wrong

Does anyone know how to change the clock on my threads or replies? The clock on my computer screen is correct, but when I send something to the forum, it is two hours off. Thanks I solved my problem by going to the Control Panel and changed my time zone.

    Ticks

Several of you have mentioned "Permadon" and "Duranon" to keep ticks off. Where do you get it? I've never heard of it before. That's why I enjoy reading this forum, I learn something from it every day.

    Ticks

Spray yourself with anything that has "DEET" in it and that will help keep the ticks off. I bought a 6.5 oz. can of REPEL "Sportsmen Max" with 40% DEET in it for around $3.29 or so at Wal Mart. They sell other cans with 29% DEET, but I want the max. Just remember, don't spray your face...

I called your house and left you my numbers, so it's up to you when you want to look at it. I'm pretty much free anytime. Thanks again for your help. Jack

    Help with old Hoyt

Thanks Hope, Ill call you. I didn't like working the V Round and I know you didn't either. You're the one that had to get extra carpet to hang behind them old hay/straw targets. You really had to keep them wet didn't you? With the first day being know distance (which I think will be fun...

    Help with old Hoyt

Thanks Hope, I hate to bother you too much. You've helped me so much in the past with this rig. You're one of the most knowledgeable person on archery equipment that I know. Just let me know if and when you can look at it. My home phone is in the book, but if you want me to I'll call you...

    Ladder stand question

I agree with you Quackrstackr, if someone wants your stand bad enough they will get it and it doesn't matter if it's a ladder or hang-on. But I'm like Philipfleek, I have a bad back from all my surgeries and a numb leg from it. Plus I'm 50 years old and overweight, I can't use a climber. I...

    Help with old Hoyt

Thanks Keith. That's something I didn't think of. I haven't talked to Hope for a long time. I guess he's getting ready for the State Games now. I hope I can find my problem, so I can shoot a 3D round somewhere before the deer season starts. Good hearing from you and thanks again. Jack

    Help with old Hoyt

I'm shooting a Hoyt that I bought new in 1999. I've had real good luck with it on the 3D range and in the woods. After my five back surgeries last summer, I cranked it down to 60 lbs.(still shooting 257 fps), and resighted my pins. This spring I started shooting again in the back yard, and...

    Ladder stand question

I use a ladder stand too. I use the type of lock found at most storage rental units. It is round and you can not cut the loop that goes back into the body of the lock. You can not get to it. I also use a thick, large chain that would make it harder to cut. I even chain the sections...

    Hey there KY boys

Hey Keith, I saw your name on this forum and wanted to say hello. I hope you remember me from Mercer County Archery Club. I'm the BIG guy that helped Dale, Hope and Ruth. I haven't been around archery much the past several years due to back surgeries (I had five this past summer alone)...
