    2013-14 Kentucky Grouse Season

Our seven inch snow melted so today I hunted a clear cut that held several birds late last year. I have had a bad cold so I didn't know how I could climb. When I got to the very top of a mountain on a logging road my dog Gator pointed in a grapevine and greenbrier tangle below me. I started to...

Thats me that you met. I have done very little hunting because of work and bad weather. The puppy in the photo actually trailed a wild covey of quail for about 100 yards and pointed them. I could not beleive it but he did it. The photo was taken on one of the singles. I hope the weather has not...

Amish hunted for coyote in the area where I saw all the tracks. He killed six in three days with seven shots. He described them as "thick" in that area.

    2013-14 Kentucky Grouse Season

The farm that I saw all the coyote tracks was where I killed my first grouse in 1968. It's hard to beleive that me and my brother -in- law in the 1970's and 80's killed from thirty to sixty birds each year in the general area of Lewis county, Fleming, Greenup and areas around Morehead. There...

    2013-14 Kentucky Grouse Season

I took one of my setters out late yesterday afternoon for a short hunt. We have around seven inches of snow but I went anyway. There were coyote tracks everwhere. They filled the woods and I could see where they hunted around down tree tops and brush piles. Strange to see nothing but coyote...

    Grouse Population

Set a date to meet with someone who will listen and I will bring a couple of my grouse hunting friends. Saw on the news this morning that 54 bald eagles died from eating west nile infected animals.
