Not the species I was planning on but the wood ducks have taken up nesting in the mallard tube after starlings ran them out of the wood duck boxes. The mallard beat the geese to the goose nest box and hatched out 8-10 little ones and has 4 left. They hatched out a few days before Easter. Also have seen 6 little wood ducks right before Easter but haven been back down to check on them.

At least your getting to see them used by waterfowl. Cool pics also.

We are going to do more of these next year. I haven’t checked the other two but it appears something nested in one of them so two out of 3 while the starlings are keeping them ran out of the wood duck boxes.

Too bad the woody season became permanent.... When it was experimental we had the KDFWR servicing a slew of woody boxes... I would guess we see about 10% of the amount of woody boxes that we used to see.
