Anyone have a pair of Vortex Crossfire? I'm thinking of buying the 10x42. Where I hunt I just can't justify spending over $200 on binos.

I've looked thru a pair, it was vortex 10 x 42's don't remember if it was the Crossfire but I was impressed at the clarity. I have a pair of leupold 10 x 50's I paid 200.00 for 12 or 15 years ago at Walmart, wasn't even close. Don't think you could go wrong.

Cabelas has the Nikon prostaff 3s 10x42 on sale for 140.00. I have had a pair of Nikon 10x42 prostaff for 15 years and they are still working great. Vortex stuff is good too though. It's a toss up as to which is better I think.

Vortex Diamondback $200 on Optics Planet. I've had a pair. Very good. Not sure how they compare to the Crossfire. They are the next step up I believe. I carry a pair of Nikon 8x42 Monarch ATB to the stand. I'd buy another pair of either given the chance. The 8x42 work a little better in low light.

  6. We used a Vortex spotting scope on my squad when I competed in a long range rimfire PRC event in WV last year. It was 65x I think and I was amazed with its clarity. On some of the longer stages out past 250y we had electronic indicators of hits on the steel plates. The shooter would fire a shot, the LED indicator would light up but the spotter would see the hit and call it at the same time and a few seconds later we would all hear the "Ping" from the bullet hitting the plate. It was clear enough to see the 22lr bullet splashes in the dirt when the shooters missed one. Very impressive. If the Bi-Nocs are that good then they are worth it. How many times are you glassing a ridge and spot a big bull and cannot tell if it is a 6x6 or a 4x4? Good optics will take away that question.

I have the crossfire 10x50. Love em. Warranty is great. I have a scope as well. Love it. Both are very clear.

I kept going back and forth on the 10x42 or 10x50
