I'm taking my Dad and my son to Texas the week of spring break hunting Rio Grande's. If my son kills a good one what do I need to do to get it back home for a full body mount?

I would take it to a local taxidermist and have him skin it out and freeze it and bring it home that way.

Thanks for the replies, I hadn't thought about that option.

I shove a paper towel down the throat, put a ziplock bag over the head, tuck the head under the wing, gently put bird in a large trash bag, freeze the whole bird. Once frozen, the bird will make your trip home or to the taxidermist without thawing. I would not want anyone to cape the bird except the person who mounts it so they can do it they way they want to. Hope this helps, good luck!
