Most people are raising meat birds in chicken tractors. A tractor is really inexpensive to build and they work very well.

He will be there the first day of deer season:) Better watch out. You do know when you take a friend hunting at your favorite place they ALWAYS seem to kill the biggens

About an hour before they normally go into the coop we let them in the yard and out of the run for a bit. They really enjoyed the new ground.

Back several years ago we put up a owl box ( From Fish and Wildlife gave it to me) in the end of a tobacco barn that sit in front of my sons house . About a week ago my son sends me a picture and a big owl head showing through the barn hole we cut .
My son bought chicks and now they are about half grown . He has not lost any chickens yet . So I am thinking that the Owl may be a good thing as It could possibly be keeping Minks and other critters away at night .

I'm often amazed, the times I've gone to parks, of the tourists that go up to coons in garbage dumpsters wanting to pet them. I tell them those things will tear you up if you try that. Fortunately, they've heeded my warnings...but geez, weren't they warned to stay away from wild animals as a kid?? Especially a wounded/injured one? I guess those stupid "human like" animal movies from Disney sucked them into a false reality.

That's exactly what has caused this...All those stupid kids movies with talking friendly animals. I can't believe how the Propoganda has worked; people are stupid beyond belief.
I think coons are cute animals but they will tear you up in a flash.
Also, that Owl that someone posted will eat every chicken you have. Count on it.

Yep. I saw a Disney flick once decades ago (took my little brother) that had some bear cub running away from something and had it making like grunts and groans, huffing and puffing like a little kid. I couldn't believe it. Since then, I've seen them assign human emotions to wild animals. As if they'll display the same rational logic as a human.

Sure kid. Pick up that injured squirrel or injured dog. It knows you're only trying to help them and exactly what you're doing.
