    Anybody ever do this.
Dammit it’s hard. I’m no taxidermist but I guess I should have took it somewhere. My first rodeo and it’s hard. Not the forming the antler part but getting the color right and not being able to tell. I’ve watched several YouTube videos to.
I think I might have it. If I do I’ll post a pic if not I’ll just tear everything back apart like I did other day and started over. Lol.

I think getting the color right is the hardest thing about antler repair. What are you using to color it ?

I've done a few,..this one is several years ago,..buddy of mine found it in a creek,...I thought it'd be fun to see what I could do with it. Pics aren't great quality but anyway,..

Well I think I’ve got it. I THINK. May not be perfect if ya up on it close. But it’s good enough for me. I’ve been messing with it off and on since nov.
I’ll write up what all I’ve used and how I did it and my screw ups. Which was plenty. Lol.
I’m still working on it but I think I’ll have it done tonight. Hopefully.

Potassium Permanganate is a great start,...other things can be added / layered etc,..but that is the go to choice for me. Build up and buff off as desired. Thanks - Aaron

I ended up using walnut stain from Lowes. Stuff I ordered from vandykes never would dry and sink in.

I only stain the repaired antler. Don’t know why it all looks dark guess it’s the pic cause it’s not that dark. It’s only dark around the bases naturally. I ended up using apoxie. I ordered some lab x off eBay and formed the antler but it dried grey so that was already darker than I needed. I ended up staining the apoxie with walnut and then sanded with 2000 grit paper.

Looks good. Looks like real antler all the way to tip after staining. You have pic of epoxy job before staining?
