I would say about 65% luck of the draw and 35% who you know. What say you?
They have completely outsourced the draw process for these exact concerns. I believe it really is a random draw and with the 3 year restriction now you don't see the repeat people near as much as previous. Was there a good old boy thing in the beginning....possibly.
You will see the same names in three years.
35% is a little low I think it is 50% who you know. My neighbor KNOWS somebody he wont tell me who it is. But been drawn many times in the last 5 years. And LAUGHS ABOUT IT.
Ok. This is probably the 20th time I’ve posted this but will again. I don’t know about the commissioners tag and all those others but I believe the general draw is legit...or at least used to be. I was drawn in 11 and the guy who let me hunt his land was retired kDFWR officer. He had put it for himself and his 2 sons every year since the draw began and none had been drawn to that point. However, his SIL put in in like 07 for the first time and was drawn for bull firearm and killed a monster on his property. I can tell you this guy has major connections and had never been drawn. As a matter of fact when I was drawn I didn’t even know how to go about finding a place to hunt and was at an outdoor show and a KDFWR scoring bucks gave me his name and number. Now, I know things change but I feel at that time it was legit luck of the draw.
I don’t know anybody. I have put in every year. Bull tag in 2012 and cow in 2014. I’m sure there is a bit of hanky panty but it’s 95% or better legit luck.
I like how they did the live draw but the names where drawn before hand and just announced live
I think if they want someone to have one that is set aside with all the other they want to have one. THEN everyone else gets in the hat. I know a guy who has got a tag 4x. That ain't luck. Draw them out live. No computer generate bs. All names in a box. Draw dim sobs out.
It’s a lottery. It happens.
The probability of being drawn 4x exceeds luck and randomness
I agree totally
The guy I'm talking about has drew 3 cow and one bull. All rifle. We helped him get one cow. No more. He's a member on this forum but I won't mention a name. I was hoping to get at least a cut of meat. Nothing. If he reads this, don't contact me no more. Courtesy is a plus with my standards. I've never asked for $ because I'm not a licensed guide, but come on. Generosity goes a long way. Helping a guy in the pouring rain, dressing, loading, and transporting is worth more than a thanks see ya later.
My neighbor been drawn 5 times in the last 7 years. YEAK LUCK OF THE DRAW MY ASS. He even told me he had pull. But no name mentioned.
Like most thing in state and local government it's who you know. I was wondering how many out of state tags are issued.
I think it’s like 10%....
