If I wanted to lease a good property in the Western Kentucky region, what can I expect to pay? Is it per acre or per person? How does this work? Thanks!
Have seen as cheap as $25 and as high as $100 or more.. depends if landowner thinks his deer are gold plated and what the local outfitter will pay..
Like anything its worth/costs what someone is willing to pay for it. The bigger the deer that come off of it generally bigger the price tag. Generally price per acre and I wouldn't be surprised to see for that area $50-100 per acre
Will be looking myself here in a month or so in central KY for the wife and I , might consider one other person on the right tract.. if it just me and her will most likely be under 100ac, in GA I leased 115ac for $1500 and it was loaded with deer , killed my best bow buck off of it. There are a lot of resources out there for finding a lease.
Some parts if the country it's either own your own , lease your own or join a club, public ground is scarce or over crowded... BTW leasing from the right people does have some distinct advantages..
The one thing I did like about NH in the four deer seasons I spent there was all unposted ground private , state , fed and municipal was open to hunt. The thing I didn't like was all Private ,state, fed and municipal was open to hunt.. you never really knew who else was in there..
So if you posted an area (to hunt yourself or just to keep hunters off your property) were you considered an ahole?
I am in the Western KY. area. Prices range from 10.00 an acre to 40 dollars an acre. no way on the 100 dollars an acre. unless your leasing it to farm it!
