Picked up my Labor Day longbow buck Saturday.

It's no monster by any means.... but my first with a longbow and in velvet. Which I honestly started not to mount him but my wife persuaded. In turn .. I'm glad she did now.

Definitely a summer coat and if it been a few days later he would have been stringing the velvet off.

14 yds... 50# Bear Montana longbow, wood arrows & glue-on Woodsmen heads.

Posted pics from my phone and they look fine. But just looked at them on my pc.. look grainy and terrible color wise on a bigger screen.

Sorry about that ... I'll try to repost some differently as thumbnails.

Doesn't have to be a monster to be a great Trophy! Awesome Buck!

I've had too many distractions this winter to stay on top of my shooting. But I actually slung a few Monday afternoon before the storms rolled through.

Wasn't terrible by any means... but definitely got to get back to it on a regular basis. Could feel it a little this morning when I got out of bed and only made about 20 shots....lol.

Man... didnt realize how thin their coats are in early September until you compare them to a November mount. But the reddish cast makes for a pretty mount.

Velvet wise... he had damaged it a little after the shot. Had several bloody spots that I didn't know how it would turn out. But it turned out fine. Gave him a little character.

Exact situation with mine, it's difficult just to retrieve them without damaging the velvet some
