Am I the only one still shooting stickbows around here? Seems this part of the site is silent. I am still hard at it trying to get ready for the upcoming season. Where is all the Trad folks?

I'm trying, a friend of mine gave me a PSE impala that he bought new and played around with for a year or two he told me to practice and wanted me to kill a deer with it in the upcoming seasons

My question to you guys, I am a reasonably strong person but I feel like the drawl weight of 50 to 60 pounds is too much for me when I'm practicing am I doing more harm than good? And is there any suggestions

As I'm just playing around in the backyard I feel like I'm getting better and usually nail the milk jug 60%Of the time when I'm shooting at but I'm sure that's all going to change when there's a deer standing in front of me, I just think I'm not as consistent as I should be

Agree with Nock, lighter is better starting off. But then again I hunted many years with a 60# Recurve not knowing this. You can build up to it if you are young and don’t have health issues. I have aged and my shoulder is in bad shape so I’m down to 40# now, 45# max. Just go slow and easy, don’t damage your shoulder, I promise you won’t like it if you do.

Not recently, kinda took this year off on building bows. I am getting a little itch though.

Had a little backyard fun after Church this evening. Walked around shooting from chairs, off ground, and at unknown distances. Most 18-25 yards probably. Shooting at an old core that a friend gave me after replacing his. Because it’s only about 6X8” I put a bag behind it.

I took a little break this summer not shooting as much as I normally do but am getting back in the groove. I'm sticking with the same arrows I used last fall so that parts good to go. I didn't break, damage, or lose any last season.lol I let what opportunities I had stroll right by unscathed. Not sure why other than I already had plenty of meat in the freezer so I was a little picky. Hope this year is as good as the last two or three!!

Im steadily doing less and less shooting, if not for the KTBA shoots probably would not be shooting at all. Been such a busy summer with overtime, grandson's ball games and constant mowing. I plan to get back going, mowed out my 3-d area in the woods the other day, have a bent mower blade as proof ! Guess I better go stripe my lawn now ! :)

Killed fish with mine. Need to take bow fishing gear off and start shooting in the back yard.

I started shooting a little back in July but I’ve been side tracked with the shingles the last few weeks. Really hadn’t felt like it .. but I’m slowly recovering.

Fact is got the bow off the rack tonight and strung it. Been drawing it back & letting down ... as an attempt to get a little conditioning in.

Going to try to shoot a little in the evenings this week .. but I sure don’t feel like I’m where I need to be right now this close to season.
