Hey all I'm in Louisville KY from georgia until this Sunday, 10-21-2018 and have had no luck finding flint on my own and wondered if anyone close by had some that I could take off your hands or hunt on land that you have. We're don't have much flint down in GA, just let me know....

To use for primitive fire, flint and steel on my youtube channel Silentwolf Adventures, and maybe practice knapping if I can find big enough pieces...

If you travel along the AA Highway between Alexandria and Augusta, there are cuts in the hillside that yield a high-grade chert. It's easy to work, but you have to bake it in sand before it gets hard enough to use.

There is a creek near me I got several balls of raw flint. About the size of soccer balls. Crops outta the rocky banks. But they are cracked from the winter. Old timers said their grandparents would gather from the vein for their flint but never could find it. I met a gentleman in Friendship Indiana at the NMLRA rendezvous that said Roberstson co flint was the best around. Don’t know if he was pulling my leg, but he asked a lot of questions about where it was. I got a bucket of it and some I got from a friend if you want some of it come get some.

Ever knap glass ? I work with a guy who did and he made my wife a small arrowhead out of the thick end of a blue glass bottle once.

I have but I am not a fan of glass. I prefer stone. I love novaculite.

You will probably only find chert in most of Kentucky.
