What bow would you guys recommend for my 16 year old step daughter? She has never shot one before and wants to give it a try. I am afraid she won’t stick with it so don’t want to spend a fortune on one. There is a couple decent looking ones on Walmart.com but just not sure what to get.

browse some forums and find a used one on the cheap. I did the same for my 13 year old daughter. Got her a $50 bow and put $30 in it. Friend gave me some arrows. She shot it about 10 times. I hope your daughter shoots more.

I don't know if you can even do this with a bow, but I'd try to find a bow to rent.

One of my daughters was all "hell bent for leather" to play the cornet/trumpet. She wanted me to buy her a new one. Instead, I just rented one to see if she really loved it as much as she thought. I told her if she really took to it, I'd buy her a new one.

About four months is all I had to pay rent on it. She moved onto another "fad".

Not a bow, I know. But this strategy seems to work for kids just trying to discover what they like and want to do--without shelling out a lot of money. Just rent one for awhile instead of a major cash outlay. The rub is in this particular situation, I don't even know if there's places that even rent bows. I wouldn't think so, but who knows these days?

I would highly recommend some of the PSE bows, Same concept as the mission as far as high adjustability but a lot cheaper, Recently bought my best to girl a used PSE fever. We were able to get it down to about 34lbs and 25” draw it fits her nicely and as we continue to practice together we can bump her poundage up. I think I’ve got $225 in hole set up at this point which isn’t terrible “

Bear sells a woman specific bow for a decent price. I can’t remember the name, but my wife has it and likes it. It’s very adjustable as far as poundage and draw length too.

My wife wanted to shoot bows with us about 10 years ago. I bought her a used old Browning compound gfor $30.00 and to this day she has only shot with us 1 or 2 days total.

I suggest to take her and let her shoot a few bow's and see which one it feels better to her. Also it can it be adjust it to her specs. I went to an archery shop and shot few bow's and the PSE stinger x felt good on me.
