Well like the title says, are dogs necessary or can you just walk around the woods to shoot some coons. I've never hunted then if you can't tell. Thanks

You could walk through shinning trees and see a few coons but you will get more coons with a hound. If a coon isn't pressured it might just run and not tree. And coon hunting isn't about just killin coons. It's building a bond with your dog. Watching it work. Listening to it tree in the pitch black of night. The pride you have in a dog you trained from 8 weeks old and it starts to tree is amazing. And the sound of it treeing is music to your ears

They can be called pretty easy especially during mating season. My foxpro came with several coon sounds on it from the factory.

    as above stated no,

leaving out the issue of the dog, because I cant follow them anymore

I killed a few this year without a dog, I had picked a load of corn onto a old flat wagon with side boards for dear corn,

since I could not get it inside I put a new tarp over it

next weekend the tarp was shredded

deer cam on wagon diagnosed the problem

so after attaching a battery powered lantern onto the wagon the hunt was on

S&W15-22 with a tactical light and cci silent ammo I had a pile very quickly

the ammo is so quiet you here hardly nothing out of the gun, but you do have to cycle it manualy
