An it cant come soon enough. I have thought about heading out and trying to kill one with my bow since im about of out deer tags. I have 1 doe tag left. Just to get me by till spring. But I would rather wait and here them gobble and work in the spring..... Counting the days.

Time will fly until they start gobbling good and we start to see gobblers strutting. March, the longest month of the year!

I am still seeing plenty of birds and have had success the last few years just as all the rest. But i also think there arent as many birds in some of the areas i hunt as years before. I still get it done but i have to work harder. An no paticular reasons why. One of my best places has really went down the last 3 or 4 years. Havent killed a bird on it in 3 years i know. An years ago i would tag out on that farm every year with ease if i wanted too. There just not there anymore. An nothing has really changed like i said.. It went from having 15 to 20 birds gobbling on the roost every morning from march till may to nothing for weeks at a time. In just a few years. Its a large place prolly 400 acres of mostly timber and some small firld. An its not over hunted. My dad an i are the only ones who have hunted it that i know of for years. Hope they come back because its still my favorite place to hunt because of all the memorys i made there years ago when i only had a spot or 2 to hunt. Water, food, and cover is still there just no birds. But i can drive down the road 15 miles to another spot i hunt and its as good as its every been.

I think the population is coming back, there was a few years it was down.It was rumored a disease was killing off some turkeys two or three years ago.I've seen more out in the fields this summer and fall than I had seen the last few years.Maybe a good sign
