How do I do it? (Things I should have learned before I got a 4 wheeler)
WELLLLL it might help to know what exactly it is that you own ?
Go to the dealer and buy a service manual. Money WELL spent.
Some models have an oil filter and 2 drain plugs. Others only have 1 drain plug and no filters.
To change the oil there is a drain plug in the bottom. Just loosen that and drain the oil. On my 4-wheeler (suzuki eiger) the oil filter is up front. I have to take the inner fender out. Remove that, fill her up and check the oil, and your good to go. I change mine twice a year, once myself and the second time i take it to the dealer. So they can change my differential oil, and adjust my valves.
like CL said, buy the manual. You can also get the manual on CD if you like. Theres usually quite a few on ebay
Yup, if you don't have a manual buy one!
Also it isn't a bad idea to change your differential fluid. I recommend synthetic even if it doesn't require it. A litle maintenace goes a long way!
My first Honda atv lasted me 15 years, more than my first wife. She required more hands on...
buy a service manual
this will probably cost me some points, but did she also require synthetic?
