Is it legal to use #4 buckshot for coyotes in KY if there are no other seasons open that restrict it?

yes, #4 shot is legal, probably have to keep shots within 30-35yds, waterfowl and turkey loads would be recommended, coyotes have a great desire to live.

It is not legal to use 4 buck, #4 shot is legal but not 4 buck. That's the way the reg is, you cannot possess or use buckshot for hunting furbearers in KY. Buckshot is defined as any lead shot .20 or larger as defined by SAAMI - Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute http://www.saami.org/glossary/display.cfm?letter=B

This is the definition I was given by the Law Enforcement Division.

everything i have read and have been told says buckshot is ILLEGAL to use for hunting purposes including coyotes. I'm not exactly sure why though. Some people still use it disregarding the law.

Hunting Guide is on www.kentucky.gov There is a section that talks about Coyote Hunting and does mention NO BUCK SHOT, but you can use semi auto rifles like an AR15 and there is no Mag Restriction.
