Remington, all the way. Though I live in Alaska now, I grew up in Iowa, and between myself, friends, and relatives, I'd hate to have to try and add up all the thousands of hours in the field! One thing for sure, Remingtons have an unsurpasses reputation in the field for reliablity, and longevity. Yeah, some other guns out there are good, even great, and some might even hold up as steadily/for as long as a Remington. But why take the chance? Pheasant hunting, first light, around 0 F., warming up to maybe 40 F or more, then cooling down again...frost, melt, frost again...and the Remington always took it in stride. I put between 10 or 12 THOUSAND rounds through my 1100, and NOT ONE PROBLEM, EVER.

I'm with Vin, Beretta all the way. Its hard to beat the 1100 they are workhorses, but I've had my 390 in the mud, North Dakota dirt and its been a great gun. I'm not much on the benellis' especially when it gets below freezing. Seen several failure to cycle.

You fellas are right, Beretta DOES make a truly excellent firearm, I've heard good things about the shotguns from family back home; I guess the best thing to do is to get one of the top-notch shotguns, and then, figure out which one shoulders best for you. Good Hunting, and luck to you all!

P.S. hey, if you come across a used Browning Auto-5 while you're shopping, you might want to give it a serious look, my GrandFather had one for many years, and he swore by it. Don't know about the newer Brownings, buddy of mine bought a 20 gauge a few years ago, and it jammed up on him a couple of times in zero temps, one of their gas-loaders, forget the model number.

I like my Winchester Model 1400 not a very expensive gun, but it has never let me down in over 10 years of use.

I used a Remington Wingmaster 870 Pump for almost 30 years and love it. Last 10 I used a Browning 12 guage 3 1/2" Pump for geese and liked it. But for the last three years I've use a Browning Gold Hunter and its awesome. (By the way, before you guys think I'm even older than I am, some of the guns I used/use did and still do overlap).
