Default Bullet Seating Depth?

Do you reloaders out there have a rule of thumb distance you seat the bullet off the rifling lands when you working up a new load. Sierra bulletsmiths have told me .015 .020" but I have read some start closer than that. What about you guys.

I think every rifle is a bit different:some like them just touching the lands; others a bit farther back(not too much) [:)] Just be careful, and make sure you "play" with this aspect well below max for safety's sake(and your own) [:)]Watch for any sign of excess pressure, and you should be able to get a very accurate load for your rifle(s)
