I was just wondering if anyone owns a .300 Savage lever action. I had recently acquired one (made in 1950) and took it out opening day of gun season. I dropped a nice 9 pointer (dressed out at 198lbs) and a doe (154lbs) within the first 1/2 hour of shooting light of the 2001 gun season. I really like the gun, I was just wanting to see if anyone had any opinions on the this rifle.

300 Savage,
It's slightly better than "throwing rocks" or a "good tobacco stick". Just kiddin'.If you decide to get rid of it , let me know. |

Valley Station,
Got Jokes, huh? Actually I was doing some research on the .300 Savage and a few different magazines rated the .300 Savage the best deer ammo of the 1900's. I like it because it is just a little smaller than a .308, but larger, and much better, than a .30-.30. Where do you turkey hunt at? Do you have private land in Jefferson Co. that you hunt on? I deer hunt on a farm in Bullitt Co., but the lack of turkeys on that land forces me to hunt in Taylorsville WMA. Let me know if you ever want to go on a hunt. |
