Default Moving to Murray, need advice please

I will be moving to Murray from Tennessee soon. Since several of you fellows are from the area, I'd like to sit down & get your advice on good places to hunt & fish. I would appreciate any information you might give me.

Thanks,

Rob

Hey, Rob. When you get to Murray, drop by 100 North 6th. You'll find me and Darton73 there. We ran the rest of the staff away this afternoon practicing turkey calls.

Murray is 20 miles from the LBL and the new Clarks River refuge. There is some huntable Westvaco land near Murray and thousands of acres of huntable TVA land on the west side of KY Lake. In addition, you are an hour from Ballard, West KY, and Pennyrile Forest WMA's, slightly over an hour from Peabody, and less than an hour from Fort Campbell. There are several thousand acres of Westvaco land within 50 miles.

The whole area is zone 1. Deer are everywhere, turkeys are expanding like crazy, we have rabbits, squirrels, still have a few quail, doves, and in good years, plenty of ducks and geese. And I haven't even mentioned the fishing!

Is this heaven or what? What's bringing you to Murray?

On the down side, when the wind is right we can smell Illinois -- the screwing they're giving non-residents over there is really raising a stink!

Mossy ,

Those of us living in Kentucky are truly blessed.

That "Illinois Stinch" angered Missouri's wildlife director so much, that he proposed "Reciprical license" for the likes of Ill,Ia.,Ka. and such.
Looks like instead, they decided to increase NR license for ALL.
I noticed, Missouri NR turkey license was raised to $145.00

Well crap! My grandchildren are in MO and since my wife is always wanting to go there, I though I'd do a little turkey hunting there on the side. There just ain't no free lunch anymore!

Rob, if you're moving to Murray, you had better hurry up and get here. The hunting is so good here, we're thinking about raising the price of licenses for everything west of I-65!!!!

Thank you all for the kind words. Looks like I picked a nice place to move to.

Mossy,

I am moving there to start a new job. After seeing how much higher the real estate prices are than here in TN, I told my wife she might have to start dancing at The Foxy Lady in Paris, TN for the extra income. She said she would have to dance on chubby girl night. I told her just work whenever married men will be there because we appreciate anything we get.

I am looking forward to meeting you all & maybe hunting & fishing with you some. Thanks again,

Rob
