Page 40 in the hunting guide says NO. Only the game with an open season or the list of game on that page in season all year. It says ALL other game is protected.

WOW talk about piching around a loaded gun with a hair trigger.
None of use has any desaire in harming the cat but if it becomes a problem we will try and trap it and see about having KDFWR moving it some where or they can use it for show.. We are like alot of you guy's and have dumped stupid money into the this land for deer.. There wifes are having a fit ( My wife does'nt hunt) over it they dont want to go hunting because of the cat.

But a mounted black couger would be cool..I'm going to see about buying a cheep camra to take to the field with me who knows i may get some pics of it..

Weedwalker I shot a mountain lion here in letcher co 2 year ago that was not found because I shot it 2 times with a 22 pistol at 15 yds . I know I hit it both times . we found blood but no cat. I called the DNR here in letcher co and the said to kill all I see . My dad called one in wile turkey hunting about 6 year before I shot that one it seen him and run off. He came out pale as a ghost. You guys do what you want . I am going to kill all I see given the chance . Because I have 2 kids that like to play outside and plus the big cats make me nevrous. the next day after shooting the cat I went to the gun store and bought a 45 long colt / 410 tracker and a good flashlite. They told me they had 4 other people called about seeing a lion .In about a 10 mile area. could have been the same one I guess.

The only cougars that are in kentucky are at the country club by my house starring at young gun slinging boys like a piece of meat. I wish they understood that i have feelings too.

The land owner changed his mind and told us to eradicate the animal he has to many nesis and nephews + his wife watches kids at times for extra money the cat was 150 yards from the house so i would say that is close. what do you do? I realy dont want to kill it I would rather trap it and let some one like the above post have it but the other guy's say it's lites out if they see it. Maybe it can hide untill after deer season and i will try and make a trap for it shouldnt be too hard to do..
I saw the pics of the tracs yesterday and it was a couger track. I'm going to try and get the pics to show here.

Now dont get me wrong i'm not a tree hugger I just dont like to kill just to here my gun go off.I have eradicate alot of stray domestic cats here and that is because the dog warden would not help ( he said to shot them the same goes for dogs) get rid of them and no one would claim the cats.

Though I have never seen a cougar..mointian lion...black panther before in my hometown (Harlan Co.)...Every since I can remeber my mom, aunts, and uncles have told stories about hearing the screams of a "Panther" back in the holler where they lived...they still claim the same story today.

I figured it may just be one of those...let's scare the sh#t out of the kids stories but they still all have the same story.

I also heard what "could" have been a scream from a mountian lion when I was 16 and fishing at a local lake...but I can't verify. Who knows if there is or isn't...but a man should be ready for anything and must respect nature and the dangers associated. I have learned to try and be prepared for anything...not just in hunting, but life in general. I'll always have some kind of weapon w/ some good terminal velocity w/ me while in the woods.
