Thick stuff, the deer actually move a little better third weekend compared to the second because they have a week break to chill out. 115 doesn't get hunted but the three gun weekends, the deer are not pressured much, hunted there two years ago and saw plenty.

The sloughs in 45 are the primary travel coridor for the deer between the thickets. Find a good spot and sit tight. I've seen more sign in 45 than I've seen anywhere in my life when I used to hunt it pretty regular. It's got some big, big deer, but you'll have to lay with it to get one in front of you.

I have hunted area 45 five years and have taken 4 bucks all in the same area. Did not put in for the hunt last year due to my schedule, so not sure what happened. One of the guides shot a very respectable buck 2 years ago in the south side. I am back in there this year and very excited.

The north/west side is oaks mixed with cedars while the south/east is mixed with heavy undergrowth and a few fields. Two of the years, I shot a buck at first light and did not hang around to see anymore, but the other years that I did hang around, I saw quite a few deer. Lots of places to go, but I try to stay away from the creek that runs through the center. Some like that area, and in all fairness, I really shouldn't say anything bad about that area except that it does get flooded and can be muddy.

There is a very small pond down on the south/east side that lots of hunters seem to like. I like the area that is about 200 yards to the right of the pond. There are some draws through that area and the trick is to pick a spot that provides cover for the deer, but visibility for you and be patient. Most hunters will be moving to the trucks at 10 am for a snack.

I will try to get my son in my favorite tree (one that I shot three bucks out of). Also lots of turkey and bobcats in that area.

I got area 39 first weekend. I know it's a tough area and sure not the pic of the litter, but I'm still just happy to get the first weekend. I hunted it several years ago with a bow, and I just remember it's steep and rough, like 42 across the road. Anybody have any information about the quality of some of the bucks that have came from 39 the last few years..

Default Area 4

Looking for info on area 4 if anyone has hunted it. Hunted Knox for the first time last year (34) and don't have any familiarity otherwise. Your insight would be appreciated. I went through all 27 pages and didn't see anyone else inquiring about this area.
