I switched because of availability and price. My dogs did well on Black Gold, but they are doing better on the Arkat Hunter's Edge. The Hunter's Edge is a chicken meal based food with less corn, whereas the Black Gold is a meat meal based food.

I pay 39 per bag at tractor supply but a friend of mine supposedly has a vet that can get it for 29 im going to check it out and see. With the purina club points if you use them its a bit cheaper in the long run . Im also going to see what the price is to buy a whole pallet at a time ive heard it considerably cheaper that way but most people dont have enough dogs to feed that much...

I'm not going to knock Purina at all, they do a lot for beagling and I'm good friend's with the Reps. But that being said Black Gold is the best food pound for pound out there if it's handy to get

I feed my dog raw chicken leg quarters, bones and all. I buy at Wal-Mart for $6.00 for a 10 lb. bag, which works out to $30.00 for 50 lbs. He also gets other raw meat as available, including deer organs, beef, eggs, fish, etc. I also feed him raw fruits and vegetables. Raw meat is the most nutritious, least-expensive dog food available. I would encourage everyone to check into feeding raw. If anyone wants to know more about it, let me know and I would be happy to share all the benefits.
