    Default Advice For Ruger:

    Hi,
I recently purchased a Ruger, M77, All-Weather, Ultra-Light, in .270 cal.. I love the rifle and would like to pair it with a good accurate load. I got a nice buck on the 16th. using Winchester's Failsafe High Velocity rounds in 130 grains size. The rounds grouped pretty good. Anyone out there have one of these rifles or have any advice about an ammunition pairing? It would be nice to narrow down my search.

    Thanks,
    Dave

npsdave, try a sierra gameking 130 grain on top of 43.5 grains of IMR 4895. This is my load. It shows no signs of pressure problems and shoots a real good group for me. Good Luck

Thanks Duckhunter, I'll try it out. Do you have this same model rifle? How long have you had it and how do you like it? It has worked well for me so far in the tight brush and timber areas.

    Thanks Again,

npsdave, I currently have 2 .270's one in a Ruger M77 old style with tang safety and the other in a CZ with adjustable set trigger and all. Both of the .270's have the same length barrel and shoot this load great. Another trick to reloading that, is to hold the bullet out just alittle bit so it will lay in the lands of the barrell. I love both guns both will shot 3 shot group that can be covered with a nickle at 100 yards. The .270 is a very versital gun i have had shots that range from 20 yard to 250 yards and both have produced clean and productive harvest of animals.
