Default Guys, what's the best bow for under $400

I'm buying my first bow this Chritmas and my budget is $400 or less. What do you guys recommend? Right now I'm looking at 2 different bows as Basspro. The PSE Archery Brute for $399 and the RedHead XCS Compound Bow for $350. Do you guys have any suggestions?

P.S. I have no experience with a bow what so ever, it's all new to me, so please be simple. Thanks.

Remember that $399 just gets you the bow. To outfit it with site, quiver, arm guard, release and arrow rest you can expect about $150 more. I bought a PSE Stinger this summer. I was on a budget and got it with drop away rest, balancer, site, peep, loop ect. for $340 online.

I am sure both bows are good but its kind of a racket when you go to add the things that are necessary for you to shoot. Best if you buy a package deal. Good luck.

    Wink

Best bow for under 400? A 1991 Bear Whitetail II that for just under $400, I might be able to part with for a fellow member. Currently being used to prop the shed door open when I'm getting the lawn mower out, but it's still in top notch shape. Just needs a little string wax. PM for details.

OK, he asked for the best bow, not the best place to buy it. All posts spamming other sites are now being deleted.

Uncle Lee's, who owns this site, sells bows. That should be the only plug, in this thread, from this point forward.

Angry Hooray for freedom of speech!

Thank you Uncle Lee's for your support of this web site, it has the potential to be a good resource for Kentucky outdoorsmen.

I went to Uncle Lee's web site and for the life of me, I can't find a single bow for sale. Well, except for the Hunter Dan and Hunter Ann child's bow set. Which I don't believe is what Hunter33 was looking for.

You deleted post for "spamming" other websites. I won't dwell on your misuse of the term spam. What was done was "pitching" other sites. Websites that offer more than just bows. They offer information about bows, arrows, brace hight, arrow spine, safety, arrow speed, etc, etc, etc... All things that can help Hunterr33 who has

no experience with a bow what so ever
Hunter33 is already looking somewhere besides Uncle Lee's for his bow.

I'm looking at 2 different bows as Basspro
So no harm was done to Uncle Lee's. I don't know where Hunter33 is located, but did you think about that? Perhaps he's in Pikeville and doesn't feel like driving over 600 miles round trip for a bow.

I had no intention to highjack this thread, but I feel a much worse highjack on a basic american right was done by you for deleting speech that was neither offensive, nor irrelevant. Ask the owner of Uncle Lee's if it's his desire to stamp out all other "pitches". Or better yet, why don't you admit you were wrong, delete this post and put the others back in. Although I suspect you'll just delete this post. That's the socialist's way, but I do hope I'm wrong.

I want to friggin cuss right now but I won't. Just please tell this fellow what kind of bows in the under $400 friggin' dollar range are your recommendations for being the best for his dang money!!!! And do it without listing other websites that sell bows. I don't care if Uncle Lee's sells bows online or not. Maybe they sell them in the store but won't sell them online because you need to make sure the bow fits. maybe they don't sell them at all, I don't know. It doesn't matter. The bottom line is do not post a bunch of websites here that sell bows and have bow "reviews".

Any more BS posts about socialism and this thread is going bye bye. That's dictatorship, not socialism.
