While coming to work today, I witnessed a majestic Buck in all its Glory then in the end of its wonderful life all in 5 seconds.
I was coming up the Western Kentucky Parkway headed to beaver Dam from Central City. While chatting on the phone with a buddy, I excitedly state, "Wow, look at that Buck." He shot off a bank and out infront of me I would say 100 yards ahead. he was at full speed and instantly I saw what was fixing to happen. I hollered to my buddy, "OMG, he is gonna get it!!!" I quickly calibrated the oncoming traffic and knew what I was about to see. There was traffic in both oncoming lanes and I Knew that camry style vehice was doomed!!! I have to say this, I have taken MANY MANY deer thru my life but it disturbed me greatly to see that Buck in all his Glory and his life come to an end so fast. The car never saw it coming and it hit the driver side head on. Instantly, the hood crumpled and the deer was shot like a rocket forward spinning wildly int the median. If you gre up in the country, you may remember those brown puff ball looking things that when you stomped them, a brown dust rose just like if you slapped a 5 lb. bag of flour. Folks, I never saw so muh hair fly from one animal in all my Life. No more than 5 seconds from the moment I saw this animal he was hit and laying dead in the median. just 3 or 4 miles west of the Beaverdam exit. I had a bout with SkinCancer back in 03 and afte having faced my own immortality,i think it forever changed my outllok on exatly the maening of a "Life". Anyway, just needed to share wha i experienced today with someone. As Hunters, we Love and respect these animals. Such a sad way to see a fine creature end its life. Also, reminded me of how fast we can meet our own demise. By the way, after hitting the deer, the car braked and did make it to the shoulder of the rd.
