Spend a couple hundred bucks and buy a good one from Prairie Wind Decoys. They have speed control and are far better than Cabela's junk. The homemade ones are a pain and usually aren't very reliable. I know from experience!

I have had several hunts over vortex machine and while they will draw in long range birds, they are VERY reluctant to finish. besides who really want to wag around another 40 lbs of junk. We even tried to set it up on a stop & go cyle they flopped around and looked like crap and even banged around. The super wonder paddle wheel ducks are great. To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
